Hatfield McCoy Outlaw Trails

Outlaw Trails

Privately owned, posted, and gated property means DO NOT ENTER.

Planning a visit to the mountains of Southeast Kentucky or Southwest West Virginia? You may have heard of the infamous Outlaw Trails. If this is your first time hearing about them, you're getting the scoop straight from the source. These trails, while similar in nature, are treated differently depending on which side of the Tug River you're riding. In West Virginia, the term "Outlaw Trails" isn’t well-received. Kentucky, on the other hand, is more relaxed about it—at least for now. With the upcoming Hillbilly Trail system, Kentucky may soon shift its stance on the use of "Outlaw Trails" as well.
